Review of the Phébé 18650 single tube model Titanide.
The Phébé was without a doubt the most luxurious mod we've reviewed to date. From the milled titanium body to the 24k gold plated locking ring, the Phébé screams sophistication. The materials that compose the Phébé create a mod that seems to float effortlessly from hand to lips.
The contacts and locking ring were brass plated worth 24k gold. The outside locking ring is obviously predominantly for looks, however the internal gold plated pieces lead to less volt drop and better conductivity for harder hits and more efficient battery usage. The one thing we would change about the mod is that the top piece has a very hard time adjusting to different center posts of various RDA's. So if your RDA of choice doesn't quite fit there's not a whole lot that can be done for it. The bottom housing is fairly difficult to take apart unless you have tools on hand which poses an issue if you ever need to take it apart for field cleaning or any other reason on the go.
The machining of the Titanide mod is nothing but exceptional. The logo isn't just laser engraved, it's completely hollowed out with no unrefined edges that all come to an almost unbelievably fine point. The threads that attach the top are deep etched, and crafted to precision. The locking ring glides effortlessly from closed to open with a flick of the finger. From top to bottom, all of the components fit together flawlessly.
The button did stick right out of the box, however after a day of breaking it in, it didn't have any issues. We believe it was due to the lubrication inside the button mechanics needing a little love in order to fully cover all of the internals. After the initial break in period though, we were in for a treat. The button may be the best feature of this Titanide model. The finest silk known to man would be considered rough in comparison to the Phébé's button mechanics. When coupled with the extraordinarily light weight of the mod, the buttery smooth switch almost seemed to throw itself. Overall, if you're looking for an authentic mod, that emanates class, you'll want to consider adding Titanide to your collection.
